Report: Man Utd now 'lead race' to sign 'one of the fastest' Premier League players for Amorim

Manchester United are edging closer to completing a blockbuster signing in January.

The Red Devils enjoyed a big summer in the transfer market with huge deals to sign Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko which have undoubtedly aided the attacking output of Ruben Amorim's side. However, there's still work to be done if the club are to return to their former glory.

Sitting sixth in the table, supporters will be satisfied with the season so far, but there's still plenty of room for improvement if the club are to fulfill their potential with the players currently at their disposal.

Manchester United are leading the race to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, according to reports from Fichajes. Man City, Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested in pursuing a deal, but the report suggests that the Red Devils are Semenyo's first-choice destination.

The Bournemouth star has a release clause worth £65million in his deal that comes into effect on January 1 and expires early in the month. However it's claimed that the Cherries could attract offers of around £70m in order to complete a deal.

Man United are keen to move swiftly in order to snap up the forward's signature and ensure that a bidding war doesn't break out.

If Manchester United complete a deal to sign Antoine Semenyo, it would be a huge signal of intent for the Red Devils. Hailed as being 'world-class' by teammate Justin Kluivert, the forward has proven himself as arguably the biggest star outside of the top six at present following another great campaign.

The 25-year-old has already scored seven goals in 16 games this term, providing three assists in the process. This comes after a 2023/24 season in which he scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 42 games.

Semenyo is only getting better and better and for Man United, he could be a massive addition. Cunha and Mbeumo have made a real difference since joining, while Sesko is a player of immense quality. If Semenyo can recreate his Bournemouth form at Old Trafford then it could make a huge difference to Amorim's side in the second half of the season.

Man United need big-game players who can flourish under pressure and early suggestions are that the Bournemouth star can do exactly that.
