Kai Rooney scored on his return as Manchester United Under-18s clinched the U18 Premier League Cup by hammering Birmingham City.
The Red Devils ran out 6-0 winners at Carrington to bag maximum points from the group stage. Darren Fletcher's youngsters took a comfortable lead before half-time against a tenacious Birmingham side.
After several thwarted attempts by visiting goalkeeper Szymon Terenowicz, United full-back Jacob Watson finally broke through with a goal straight from a corner kick. JJ Gabriel doubled the advantage before the break, sending a clear message to Ruben Amorim he is almost ready for the first team, slotting home a rebound from close quarters and could have increased his tally if not for Terenowicz's heroics.

Kai, son of club icon Wayne, was introduced after half-time, marking his comeback from injury. The 16-year-old had a goal ruled out for offside but later got on the scoresheet as part of United's late four-goal flurry.
Rafe McCormack, Jay McEvoy and James Bailey each found the back of the net once, before Rooney rounded off the scoring with a neat finish from a tight angle inside the penalty box. With three victories from three group stage games, the Under-18s advance to the quarter-finals, eagerly anticipating the announcement of their next opponent.
