Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their attempts to sign Antoine Semenyo ‘in the last 48 hours’.
The news comes courtesy of Fabrizio Romano (relayed by UtdDistrict), with the reporter adding that United are seeking clarity over Semenyo’s £65 million release clause.
Tottenham Hotspur are actively pushing to beat both United and Manchester City to his signature, but it’ll be up to the forward himself where he wants to ply his trade when January rolls around.

Antoine Semenyo was back amongst the goals vs United

After overseeing a seven-game goalless streak over the last two months, Semenyo was back on the scoresheet when Bournemouth visited Old Trafford on Monday night.
He equalised for the Cherries in response to Amad Diallo’s opener in the first half, after which Casemiro restored the Red Devils’ lead on the brink of the interval.
Semenyo, whom Ruben Amorim hailed as ‘special’ before the clash, played the full 90 minutes of the whirlwind eight-goal encounter, with Rio Ferdinand joking United shouldn’t ‘let him leave’ at full-time.

Why Semenyo is attracting widespread interest

It’s no surprise to see that the Ghanaian has become one of the most sought-after wingers in Europe heading into the winter window.
He ended 2024/2025 with a hugely impressive 11 goals and six assists to his name in 37 top-flight appearances, and has already notched seven goals and three assists in the 15 matches he’s played this campaign.
His clinical finishing, along with the fact he’s only 25 years old, means Semenyo could well occupy a starting spot for any ‘Big Six’ side for years to come – and Ruben Amorim is hoping it’ll be in his ranks at the Theatre of Dreams.
That being said, fans did anticipate that a defensive midfielder would be the priority next month if any substantial signings were made, especially considering Kobbie Mainoo might be pushing for a temporary exit on loan until the end of the term.
