Former Manchester United defender Phil Jones believes Rasmus Hojlund has got his career back on track at Napoli, after joining the Serie A champions on loan at the beginning of the season.
Although Napoli have had some disappointing results of late, they are sitting third in the Serie A standings ahead of game week 16.
Rasmus Hojlund has scored six goals in 17 appearances for the Italian side, but the jury is still out as to whether Napoli will try to sign the Denmark striker on a permanent deal.
The reason Hojlund joined Napoli on loan was that Ruben Amorim was completely overlooking him at the start of the season. United also signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig to push the Dane further down the pecking order.

However, Sesko has missed out on matches for the past month due to a knee injury. Amorim received a boost in United’s 4-4 draw with Bournemouth when the Slovenian striker made his return from the bench.
United are still hoping that Hojlund succeeds in Naples, as that would make way for a straightforward transfer in the summer.

Antonio Conte signed the striker after former United forward Romelu Lukaku picked up an injury ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The United loanee has been challenged with leading the line for Napoli in Lukaku’s absence, with former United defender Phil Jones stressing that Hojlund deserves ‘credit’ for getting his career back on track in Italy rather than dwelling on his difficult spell at Old Trafford.
Jones also hailed former United midfielder Scott McTominay for his undeniable influence at Napoli since joining the club and winning the Serie A.
“Credit to him (McTominay) and Hojlund as well,” Jones told Sports Illustrated FC.
“I think he’s gone there after a difficult period at United.
“He could have easily gone to Napoli and been sort of the same sort of way was happening at United and felt sorry for himself.
“He’s not. He’s gone there, you know, he’s dug his heels in the sand and said, “This is the player I am. This is the player that I am. So, credit to them both.”
This is what Benjamin Sesko is really capable of!

Napoli are back in action on Thursday night when they take on AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana. That will be their last game until 28 December when they travel to Cremonese in Serie A.
Rasmus Hojlund looking for first win against AC Milan
Hojlund has played against AC Milan twice in his career.
The first game ended in a 2-0 win over Milan, but Hojlund was a youngster playing for Atalanta at the time.
Napoli also suffered a 2-1 defeat against Milan when they played them five weeks into the current season. Hojlund came off after 73 minutes in that game but will be looking to have a bigger impact in their Supercoppa Italiana tie.
