Ian Wright has been critical of how Manchester United dealt with Bruno Fernandes in the summer amid transfer interest.
Bruno Fernandes has dominated the headlines this week, but not for reasons related to Manchester United’s 4-4 draw against Bournemouth.
The Portugal international has scored five Premier League goals so far this season and closely rivals Bryan Mbeumo as United’s top scorer.
Ruben Amorim has opted to play Fernandes deeper in midfield, alongside Casemiro, but that has not been a hindrance on his creative output.

Fernandes has seven assists to his name on top of his goals.
These figures will come as a relief to Amorim because Fernandes was the subject of transfer interest in the summer.
That was before Fernandes turned down a move to Saudi Arabia as he stressed his commitment to staying at Old Trafford.

Ian Wright would take Bruno Fernandes at Arsenal ‘tomorrow’
Former Arsenal ace Ian Wright has criticised United’s treatment of Fernandes in the summer.
In an explosive interview with Canal 11, which aired earlier this week, despite being conducted during the November international break, Fernandes admitted he felt United ‘wanted me to leave’ before the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal made a lucrative offer for the United captain, with reports suggesting that they were ready to pay a fee of around £100 million on top of wages worth up to £700,000 a week.
Fernandes felt unwanted by the United board, despite being the club’s most valuable player since his £47 million arrival from Sporting CP in 2020, scoring 103 goals and making 93 assists.

United’s stance on Fernandes is that he is part of the club’s long-term future, but Wright believes United showed ‘indecisiveness’ at the board level in the summer.
The former England striker also claims that he would take Fernandes at Arsenal ‘tomorrow’.
“When you look at Bruno’s quotes, it comes back to Man United being indecisive,” Wright said on The Overlap.
“So someone comes in for Bruno Fernandes last summer… you shut that down.
“He didn’t want to go. Bruno is basically saying the club went, ‘it’s up to you if you want to leave’. That’s not what you want to hear when you’re the person who has basically held the club up by yourself.
“You want the club to say, “you’re not going nowhere, you’re a massive part of this”. But Manchester United didn’t do that.
“They gave him the option and said, “if you want to go, you can go”. What is that saying to him? I would take him tomorrow.”
Bruno Fernandes closing in on Man Utd milestone
Fernandes is just seven assists away from becoming only the third United player in the last 40 years to reach 100+ goals and 100+ assists for United.
The other players are Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs.
Fernandes would be joining a prestigious list if he could surpass 100 assists for United before the end of the season.
