The 26-year-old French-born forward has netted seven times and registered one assist for United in his first 17 appearances for the club in the 2025-26 campaign.

Mbeumo has been a standout performer for Ruben Amorim and the former Brentford ace has become a key part of the 40-year-old United manager’s attacking set-up.

The United summer signing has linked up superbly well with Amad Diallo on the right flank and the pair have been a dangerous dynamic duo for the Red Devils.

The ex-Bees star was a lively presence in the United attack on Monday, but Mbeumo struggled to make a mark by scoring or registering an assist in the 4-4 draw.

Mbeumo made way deep into second-half stoppage time after Ruben Amorim replaced him with Joshua Zirkzee for the remainder of United’s Premier League tie.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Ian Wright is convinced that Cameroon winger Mbeumo appears to be lacking serious “confidence” in front of the net.

“Quite wild, yeah,” he said on The Overlap

“It was. When you look at it, it’s the kind of finishing that he doesn’t need to be anxious.

“You know, he looks at me like he’s anxious, and I don’t know if that’s the pressure or something.

“That’s a massive sign of no confidence, and that’s why he probably needs a kind of chance where he’s literally tapping in right now.”

Bryan Mbeumo can now collect his thoughts away from Man Utd after the Bournemouth match at Old Trafford

Mbeumo did struggle to show the clinical finishing that Red Devils fans have become accustomed to in United’s thrilling 4-4 draw against Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

However, the Cameroon winger’s presence will now be deeply missed after Mbeumo played his last match for United in 2025 ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Mbeumo will represent Cameroon at the forthcoming AFCON tournament and United manager Amorim will be without the former Troyes player until January 2026.

Cameroon will begin their 2025 AFCON campaign on 24th December against Gabon in their Group F clash at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir, Morocco.
