The on-loan Albion striker could start away to a Juventus side with ground to make up in Serie A on Saturday evening.
Opinion appears to have softened towards the striker after his two goals in the recent Europa League win at Celtic.
He played his first full 90 minutes for the club on Monday and, while not scoring, received positive reaction to his efforts in an important 1-0 win over Como.
Roma, who are fourth, remain very much involved in what looks a tight title race with no team really taking charge.
In recent weeks, it appeared Italian media may well have been briefed that Roma may well look to get out of a season-long agreement they made just five months ago with the player and Albion.
But at least one opinion-shaper has either decided there is a future in the loan or has been guided along those lines.
Writing in Corriere Dello Sport, Lorenzo Scalia told readers: “Rumours have been swirling for weeks about a possible termination of both Ferguson and (Leon) Bailey's loans.
“The Irishman is clearly recovering, has missed some chances, but is improving.
“Just look at his brace against Celtic and his good performance against Como.
“Sure, he didn't score, but he fought and shot on goal, proving he can be an asset for (head coach Gian Piero) Gasperini.
“And then we mustn't forget that we are dealing with a striker born in 2005, coming off a year of inactivity. His stock is rising.”
Roma are three points behind leaders Inter, despite having scored only 16 goals compared to their 34.
Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler has said, as Albion player, Ferguson is always an option but gave little away when asked whether he might be recalled in January given the season-ending knee injury suffered by Stefanos Tzimas.
