Greenwood, 24, has continued his impressive form for Marseille so far this term with 14 goals and four assists in 21 matches.
That means he has become a key player under Roberto De Zerbi, so United will be rubbing their hands together, hopeful that Greenwood’s sell-on clause is activated.

Marseille can increase Mason Greenwood ownership
Marseille president Pablo Longoria has revealed that the club can increase their ownership of Greenwood’s economic rights if they qualify for the Champions League at the end of this season.
United still hold a significant sell-on percentage, which was reduced by 10% last season, after Marseille opted to increase their ownership rights of Greenwood.

Speaking at a press conference, as translated by Get French Football News, Longoria said: “Regarding the contractual situation, OM holds 60% of the player’s economic rights and 100% of his sporting rights, with the possibility of increasing this to 65%.
“In that case, we can add 5% for qualification to the Champions League.
“We are very pleased with Mason’s progress. We know his talent, but the work that Roberto De Zerbi is doing with him is extraordinary.“
This would leave United with 35% of Greenwood’s economic rights.

Mason Greenwood leading Ligue 1 goal charts
Greenwood has more goals than any other Ligue 1 player this season.
Joaquin Panichelli from Strasbourg is second in the charts, after scoring nine goals (two fewer than Greenwood).
Ligue 1 top scorers:
Mason Greenwood – 11
Joaquin Panichelli – 9
Esteban Lepaul – 9
Odsonne Edouard – 7
Ilan Kebbal – 6
Greenwood will be aiming to surpass his Ligue 1 goal tally of 21 last season before the campaign is over.
That will require staying fit and in form for the remainder of the campaign.
