Manchester United have big transfer plans in 2026 with Ruben Amorim’s latest position of interest being a left-sided attacker.
The evolution of Ruben Amorim’s system at Manchester United now sees a growing need for a wide player to come in and offer attacking quality from the left side.
It is quite a change from the system that had no wingers, but now the tactical set-up that saw United draw 4-4 with Brentford leaves a glaring gap on the left with Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha more naturally central players.

Manchester United target Kenan Yildiz
Seeing United looking for left wingers ahead of 2026 is frustrating, as Marcus Rashford would have been perfect, although the names being thrown around are very exciting.
Now, according to Ben Jacobs, Juventus’ generational talent Kenan Yildiz has emerged as a target for the club.
Jacobs told The United Stand that the club likes Yildiz as a potential signing for this position in 2026.

However, Yildiz is expected to cost between £78-87m in the new year, which is a lot for the club when midfield is the priority.

Jacobs also stated this in regards to Semenyo that despite interest, the main focus is on midfielders.
Paul Scholes’ stance on Yildiz is exciting
Signing Yildiz would be a real statement addition for the club, as he is seen as one of the most exciting young players in football right now.
Yildiz has kicked on this season, with six goals and six assists already in 21 games. But last season was when he caught the eye first.
After Yildiz’s performance against Man City in 2024, Scholes wrote on his Instagram, ‘Who the ____ is this Yildiz’ followed by four clapping emojis.
United were also linked with Yildiz last season, and so there is clearly an interest that exists beyond this link. Although prying him away from Juventus will be tough considering he is effectively a one man team at the moment.
