FPL GW17 – Best Mbeumo Replacements

Phil Foden

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Phil Foden

Foden has been on an extraordinary run of late, playing an important role in Manchester City’s superb form recently. The England international has racked up a whopping 55 points in his last 4 games, scoring double digits each Gameweek.

Phil Foden- Last 4 Gameweeks:

GW13 vs LEE(H)- 2 Goals, 15 Points

GW14 vs FUL(A)- 2 Goals, DEFCON, 17 Points

GW15 vs SUN(H)- 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 12 Points

GW16 vs CRY(A)- 1 Goal, DEFCON, 11 Points

He has scored 4 goals and provided an assist between GW13 and GW16, and is the 3rd highest scoring midfielder in FPL so far this season. City’s next future with an FDR rating higher than 3 is only in GW25 against Liverpool (FDR-4), so Foden is expected to maintain his form and continue scoring big points, making him a prime Mbeumo replacement for GW17.

Bruno Fernandes

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes needs no introduction to FPL fanatics, with his well-documented point-scoring ability over the years. He tops the standings with the most points of any FPL midfielder this season and is just 2 points shy of reaching the century mark.

He has the highest ICT index of 164.1, higher than Erling Haaland’s 162.2, and registers the 3rd-highest xGI at 10.86. It’s pretty clear that the Man United midfielder continues to be one of the most valuable assets in the game.

Fernandes has scored 46 points in his last 4 games, and he has a favorable run of fixtures ahead of him as well.

Bruno Fernandes- Rank among midfielders:

Big Chances Created – 1st

Goal Involvement – 1st

xGI – 1st

Key Passes – 1st

Bonus Points – 1st

Big Chances – 2nd

Shots in the Box – 4th

Semenyo

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Semenyo

Semenyo has been the talk of the FPL town after his exploits in the Premier League this season. The Bournemouth midfielder is the second-most popular FPL pick this term with a TSB of 43% (behind Haaland’s 73.5%).

Semenyo has seen a decline in form of late amidst Bournemouth’s woes, with Iraola’s side winless in his last 7 games. The midfielder scored his first goal since GW7 against Man United this week.

However, with 2 easier fixtures against Burnley and Brentford coming up, we’re expecting Semenyo to bounce back with some points soon. If you are looking for a short-term pick(before the transfer window) and nailed for minutes before the festive period, Semenyo is a good shout.

Note: Semenyo is on 4 yellow cards, one away from suspension, and will face a one-match suspension should they receive another before Gameweek 20.

Bukayo Saka

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Saka

Saka is another premium option to consider at 10.3 million. He has outperformed his xG (3.66) and xA (3.65) this season, with 4 goals and 4 assists each to his name. Although he isn’t in the higher bracket of the standings for FPL points scored this term, he has shown consistent involvement in attack and therefore potential for more.

Morgan Rogers

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Rogers

At 7.1m, represents a more cheaper alternative to consider for replacing Mbeumo this week. The Aston Villa midfielder has scored 76 points this season, averaging nearly 5 points an appearance. Coming off the back of an excellent display in Villa’s 3-2 win over West Ham, scoring the match-winning brace in the second half, Rogers could continue to rack up the points in FPL.

However, it should be noted that Villa have a tough run of fixtures coming up against Man United, Chelsea, and Arsenal in their next gameweeks.

Rayan Cherki

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Cherki

After suffering injury issues at the start of the season, Cherki has been reintegrated into Pep’s starting XI, starting their last 2 fixtures. The midfielder has bagged 3 assists, adding to his tally of 7 assists in 11 appearances, and scored 18 points in total in GW15 and GW16. He appears to have resumed his creative duties for the Cityzens and with their upcoming run of fixtures, it certainly makes sense to bring him in ahead of GW17.

Cherki’s stats this season:

Appearances – 11

Goals– 1

Assists – 7

Big Chances Created – 7

Key Passes – 18

xA – 2.57

Declan Rice

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Rice

Rice ranks 4th amongst the highest-scoring midfielders in FPL this season with 86 points under his belt, averaging 5.4 points per game. The Englishman has seen the 2nd-highest price rise of 0.6m this term as he continues to play an imperative role in the heart of Arteta’s midfield.

He has scored 2 goals and provided 5 assists in the Premier League this season, outperforming his xGI of 5. And at just 7.1m, replacing Mbeumo (8.2m) with Rice presents the opportunity to bring in a midfielder with great potential, with 1.1m in the bank to spare.

Matheus Cunha

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Cunha

With Mbeumo no longer in the fold until his AFCON campaign concludes, we should see Cunha feature regularly in Amorim’s starting lineup. The midfielder scored against Bournemouth in GW16 and assisted against Wolves in GW15, scoring 13 points in total.

Cunha in last 2 Matches:

16 Shots on Goal

5 Chances Created

2.18 xGI

We could see the Brazilian step up in Mbeumo’s absence and rack up some more points in the near future. At 7.9m, he would be a near like-for-like Mbeumo replacement. However, he is nowhere near Mbeumo’s point tally of 74, having scored 42 points so far this term.

FPL GW17 Mbeumo Replacements(Budget Options):

Harry Wilson

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Harry Wilson

Wilson is an excellent budget option to look at ahead of GW17. Coming in at just 5.6m, Wilson has offered arguably the highest ROI of any midfielder this season, scoring 78 points this season and ranking 6th in that regard.

Managers are certainly not oblivious to his potential, though, as he is the most transferred-in player this gameweek. He’s been extraordinarily active in attack, as you can clearly see in his stats given below. And with fixtures against Forest and West Ham coming up, he should offer some immediate point returns too.

Wilson Stats This season:

Goals – 5

xG – 2.43

Assists – 5

xA – 1.76

Shots – 29

Shots on Target – 10

Shots in the box – 18

Wilson Stats- Last 7 Matches

✅5 Goals, 4 Assists & 55 Points from the last 7 matches

Mats Wieffer

Best Mbeumo Replacements Ahead of FPL GW17 - Wieffer

Wieffer (4.9m) is another great budget alternative who offers more defensively. The Brighton midfielder has scored16 DEFCON points this season and has registered 166 CBITR, ranking 2nd and 5th in both aspects in the leaderboard this season. He has provided 4 assists as well, creating 4 big chances and making 15 key passes, so he has shown involvement going forward, too.
