Manchester United plan to go 'all-out' to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth next month, hoping that uncertainty over Pep Guardiola's position could aid their quest. The Red Devils face some lofty competition for the Cherries star, who has a release clause of £65million that activates in January.

Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool are all interested in agreeing a deal for the Ghana international. Ruben Amorim met Semenyo in London at the end of last season, but United were put off by Bournemouth’s £80m plus asking price.

The Portuguese coach called Semenyo a 'special player' before United's match with Bournemouth on Monday. The charm offensive may prove more convincing if City cannot provide assurances over Guardiola, and United will look to take advantage, according to the Telegraph.

There is a ‘growing anticipation’ that it could be Guardiola’s final campaign as City boss. The Catalan coach only penned a new deal until 2027 last year bit it is claimed City's hierarchy have made contingency plans.

Speaking out on his future earlier this season, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss said: "I've said many times I don't know what will happen [in the future]. Results dictate the positions and I have to make a good season.

"I will not stay when I feel that the club needs a change. But right now, I feel I want to do it, more than ever after what happened last season.

"I am not saying that just because of what I have done in the past. I like to look forward.

"But the time I am going to stay? When I first joined and signed for three years I would never expected to have stayed for a decade. I am so proud of that. I want to help the team, the club again and again."

United are said to be confident about their chances of landing Semenyo. The club's board and Amorim are thought to be fans of Semenyo's tactical versatility.

Amorim envisages him in an attacking wing-back role, with Amad on the opposite flank. Semenyo is believed to be open to such a move as he contemplates his future.

"They have a special player," said Amorim on Semenyo. "They have many good players, but they have a special player in Semenyo. [He] can play both sides with both feet."
