Man Utd look to take advantage of Man City uncertainty in race to sign Antoine Semenyo

Manchester United will need to see off competition from Man City and other Premier League rivals if they are to sign Antoine Semenyo in 2026.

It looks like Manchester United are planning for a busy 2026 in terms of continuing Ruben Amorim’s squad rebuild.

In the summer, United prioritised the attacking department. Amorim stepped up efforts to address the goalscoring issues in the team by signing Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha.

The emphasis should shift to the midfield department in 2026, but United will consider a swoop for Antoine Semenyo, who has a £65 million release clause active in January.

As Bournemouth’s talisman with seven Premier League goals to his name this season, it looks like there will be a race for Semenyo’s signature, but it remains to be seen if he will be on the move in January or wait until the end of the season.

Pep Guardiola uncertainty can boost Man Utd in race for Antoine Semenyo

Semenyo has been attracting interest from Man City, Tottenham and Liverpool since the start of the season.

That means Bournemouth run the risk of losing their star player to one of four Premier League clubs next month.

According to the Telegraph, United will go all-out to sign Semenyo, who scored for Bournemouth in the dramatic 4-4 draw at Old Trafford on Monday night.

It is also understood that United hope the uncertainty over Pep Guardiola’s future at City could strengthen their hand in the pursuit of Semenyo.

The uncertainty over Guardiola’s future stems from the fact he is under contract until June 2027, but the club are reportedly advancing with a contingency plan to replace the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss.

Guardiola signed his last contract at City 13 months ago.

If United are to take advantage of City’s current situation, Semenyo could play three roles at United, including wing-back.

Amorim has plans in place for the Ghana international if he opts to sign for the Red Devils.

Arsenal monitoring Antoine Semenyo situation

Although there are four Premier League clubs with noted interest in Semenyo, it is also worth considering Arsenal as a potential candidate for the winger’s signature.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal would only consider a move for Semenyo if a player is sold next month.

The report acknowledges that Arsenal are expecting a quiet January in terms of transfers.

Arsenal could push for Semenyo if either Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard leave mid-season.
