Scotland star helps Napoli into Supercoppa Italiana final

Scott McTominay took a major step towards winning more silverware with Napoli after helping his side to a 2-0 win over AC Milan in the semi-final of Supercoppa Italiana.

The annual tournament involving the winners and runners-up of Serie A and the Coppa Italia the previous season is being staged at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Napoli, as league winners, faced losing cup finalists Milan in the first semi-final on Thursday night and came out on top thanks to goals from David Neres on 39 minutes and Rasmus Hojlund on 63 minutes. His tight angled finish means that Manchester United loanee Hojlund has now hit 12 goals and three assists for Napoli this season.

McTominay was involved in a flashpoint towards the end of the match when he challenged Milan’s England international Fikayo Tomori, who responded by blasting the ball in the direction of the Scotland star.

The pair then butted heads and had to be restrained by team-mates with the incident resulting in a booking for both players.

Lewis Ferguson will attempt to join McTominay in Monday's final and guarantee Scottish hands on the trophy when his Bologna side take on Inter Milan in the second semi-final tonight.

Ferguson captained Bologna to Coppa Italia glory last season while Inter finished runners-up behind Napoli in the league.
