The summer window saw Leeds United linked with a plethora of different strikers as Adam Underwood looked to strengthen Daniel Farke’s options in the final third.
Eventually, Underwood would bring in Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer. Underwood saw off the likes of Newcastle, Man United and Milan, while Calvert-Lewin rejected a huge deal from Fenerbahce.

Calvert-Lewin’s arrival came after Leeds had signed Lukas Nmecha, the first of Leeds’ 10 signings. But many feel that Leeds needed another, and may do so in January if Joel Piroe does end up leaving Leeds.
In the summer, Leeds were touted with Premier League strikers Rodrigo Muniz and Beto, but nothing came to fruition. Over in Italy, Nikola Krstovic joined Atalanta while Artem Dovbyk remained at Roma.

Artem Dovbyk now training by himself after Leeds talks
Bought by Roma from Girona in the summer of 2024 for £26m after the Ukraine striker topped the La Liga goalscoring charts in 23-24, Dovbyk has endured an indifferent time in Italy, struggling to start matches.
Leeds made an enquiry to sign Dovbyk in the summer, but nothing really surpassed that. There was talk of a fallout with new manager Gian Piero Gasperini, but Dovbyk remains at Roma and has been playing.
But after just two goals in 14 appearances, totalling little over 500 minutes in all competitions, it is now expected Dovbyk leaves. Especially, if Pazzi Di Fanta’s report is anything to go by on the Roma striker.

While he is recovering from injury, Dovbyk has not yet been allowed to rejoin Roma’s first team with the report claiming Dovbyk’s stock has taken a ‘nosedive’. It will be interesting to see what happens when fit.

Do Leeds need another striker in the January window?
It’s an interesting one. Calvert-Lewin is on fire and there has been talk of an England call-up after four goals in four Premier League games. He could match Mark Viduka’s 22-year record on Saturday night.
Nmecha is injured, but when fit is superb cover. But Farke’s move to a 3-5-2 means there is greater need for another striker, as cover. Piroe is excellent in the Championship but nothing suggests he is higher up.
Piroe is intent on staying, but if Leeds do go and sign another striker to compete with Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha, he surely goes. Troy Parrott, Joshua Zirkzee and plenty of others have been linked with Leeds.
