Cardiff City plan move for Sheffield Wednesday-linked Manchester United prospect - report

Middlesbrough boss Kim Hellberg's flying start and a good week for Leeds United and Sheffield United - The YP FootballTalk Podcast

Cardiff City are reportedly plotting a move to sign Sheffield Wednesday-linked forward Gabriele Biancheri from Manchester United.

The Owls have already done business with the Red Devils this season, having borrowed teenage defender Harry Amass in the summer.

He has gone from strength to strength at Hillsborough, establishing himself as a key figure for the Championship basement boys.

Last month, it was suggested Wednesday had eyes on another two Manchester United prospects. Biancheri was said to be on the club’s radar, as was fellow attacker Victor Musa.

As it stands, the troubled Owls are unable to add to their first-team squad. However, the completion of a takeover could potentially enable some free transfer or loan deals.

Gabriele Biancheri competition

If Wednesday do move for Biancheri, it appears they could face competition from the third tier of English football.

According to Centre Devils, Cardiff are planning a loan move for Wales youth international Biancheri.

He is said to have visited the training ground and even met with the Bluebirds head coach Brian Barry-Murphy.

A loan move would mark a homecoming for the marksman, who was born in Cardiff and represented the Bluebirds at youth level before being signed by Manchester United in 2023.

Henrik Pedersen on transfer window possibility

"We need players. I think he is working really hard to get it done as quick as possible so we have a chance to do something in January. But we also know it takes time to get everything done.

“Right now, we don't know who the new owner who will be and we don't know the reaction from the EFL. There's a lot of questions open before we say what we can do in the January transfer window."
