Manchester United’s attack is the best it has been in years, but Bruno Fernandes has played with better at Old Trafford in his career.

When Bruno Fernandes was playing for Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it was arguably the best version of the Red Devils in the past 10 years.

Fernandes joined United in 2020, and in the coming seasons, he played alongside some elite attackers, such as Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, and Anthony Martial.

Cavani was a cult hero in his opening season at the club, and Anthony Martial was during his entire career at Old Trafford, while Rashford is a United legend.

Fernandes had a great relationship with both, and he has now been quizzed on the trio by Rio Ferdinand, who wanted to know the strengths of each.

Fernandes has an incredible understanding of football. This can be seen in Fernandes’ advice to Benjamin Sesko, understanding players’ strengths and weaknesses.

While making an appearance on ‘Rio Meets’ on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel, Fernandes explained the relationship he had with some of his former teammates.

“With Rashy”, Fernandes explained. “It was more about the type of player I am and the type of player he is.

“So the type of service he needs was kind of a match between us two. Rashy’s runs in behind were unbelievable and powerful.”

Continuing, Fernandes added what made his and Martial’s relationship.

“Martial was a connection of like quick thinking.”

Finally, Fernandes touched on the instinct of Cavani inside the box.

“With Cavani, it was movement-wise, inside the box, he was a killer, and I knew everything he wanted from the first movement. Inside the box, he was unbelievable.”

While the current United attack are still learning how to play together and could yet be added to further, the signs are there.

Mason Mount hailed his connection with Fernandes for his sublime assist against Wolves, which was a moment of brilliance from the captain.

Fernandes is also learning the runs of Bryan Mbeumo, who feeds on through balls, while he is getting to know Matheus Cunha likes the ball to feet.

The automatisms are beginning to take shape for United, and soon we should start seeing Fernandes getting countless assists for these elite forwards ahead of him.
