Man United have no plans to let Diogo Dalot leave in the January transfer window despite growing interest from a number of European clubs.
That is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade and remains very well-connected there, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 26-year-old remains a big part of Ruben Amorim‘s plans.
Dalot has been slammed by Man United fans for some inconsistent performances so far this season, but has impressed in recent weeks and earned the manager’s trust.
Meanwhile, with both Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui going to AFCON, United have been left short of right-wing-backs, with the Portugal international their main option.
As a result, any suggestion they could entertain offers when the mid-season window opens has been squashed, although deals could be revisited in the summer.

Man United plan to block Diogo Dalot exit
Brown told Football Insider almost exactly one year ago that Dalot was part of Amorim’s plans despite speculation surrounding his future, and the situation has not changed.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the right-back remains a favourite under Amorim and will not be allowed to leave.

*“I don’t see how they could let Dalot go,*” he told Football Insider.
“He’s still an important part of Amorim’s plans and recently has played well when he’s been called upon, if he’s not starting he makes an impact from the bench.
“He can play right-back, right-wing-back, left-back, left-wing-back, those types of players who can cover on both sides are always so valuable to the squad.
“Plus with AFCON they’ll need him to fill in on the right, so why would they let him go?
“There’s been interest there for a while from different clubs in Europe who have been looking at making moves, but nothing has materialised.

“I think it’ll be the same in January, because Man United aren’t planning to accept offers for him.
“Maybe if the interest is there in the summer they could do it to bring in some money, but for now he will stay at Man United, I’m sure of it.”
Kobbie Mainoo update emerges at Old Trafford
Dalot is not the only player being linked with a move away from Man United in January, with the future of Kobbie Mainoo still very much up in the air.
Brown told Football Insider on 14 December that Mainoo would push to leave Man United due to their “crazy” treatment of him in recent months.
The England international remains out of favour under Amorim, and is frustrated about his playing time after starting just one game all season.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider during the summer that Man United were open to offers for Mainoo, which left the player unsettled and considering his future.
A lack of playing time combined with feeling unwanted by his boyhood club has pushed the midfielder to consider his options amid growing interest on the continent.
