Amorim Makes Shock Decision On Antoine Semenyo As Controversial Plan For Man Utd Target Is Revealed

It appears Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim does not want to deploy Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo in his natural position as a winger.

The Red Devils are among four clubs vying to secure the Ghanaian international’s signature ahead of the January transfer window.

Semenyo has a £65m release clause in his contract that can be triggered in the first two weeks next month.

Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham are also targeting the 25-year-old, but Amorim is hoping that he can persuade him to make the switch to Old Trafford, even though he wants to change the position he plays.

Where would Semenyo play in Man Utd’s starting XI?

The Guardian claim that Amorim wants to deploy the Ghanaian “primarily” as a left wingback, or as a no.10, which are not roles he has played before in his career.

It is believed that Amorim is really keen on finding an upgrade for Patrick Dorgu, who has flattered to deceive since arriving from Lecce during the last January transfer window.

The Denmark international has been dropped in favour of Diogo Dalot in recent games, although he could be recalled for the clash against Aston Villa this weekend.

Liverpool are deemed favourites to sign the forward

At the moment, it appears Semenyo has made moving to Anfield his priority, with a transfer to Manchester City his second option.

Neither United nor Spurs are said to be under consideration, and Amorim will probably have a tough time changing the player’s mind, considering the plan he has in store for him.

The Portuguese does like attack-minded wingbacks, and Semenyo would certainly be a threat from that position, but it does look like the chances of him moving to Old Trafford are low at the moment.
