Chelsea and Man United interested in Premier League midfielder

Chelsea travel to face Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues reached the last four of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, beating League One side Cardiff City in the Welsh capital.

Enzo Maresca will now hope to see his side build on that performance, although he is likely to revert to a more familiar line-up after rotating heavily against the Bluebirds.

Ahead of Saturday’s game, it has emerged that Chelsea are one of a number of Premier League sides interested in an American midfielder.

As per CaughtOffside, both Chelsea and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams.

The report claims that both Chelsea and United – as well as Tottenham Hotspur – have been scouring the United States international in recent weeks.

Scouts from all three clubs are said to have compiled positive reports on the 26-year-old, citing his suitability for high-tempo systems as a positive attribute.

The report suggests that, while United are interested in the America, he is currently regarded as an alternative target as opposed to being one of their top targets.

Adams joined the Cherries from Leeds United in 2023 and has since made more than 50 appearances for the south coast club across all competitions.

He has quietly established himself as one of the most reliable central midfielders in the Premier League over the past two years, and it appears that his fine displays haven’t g0ne unnoticed.

At present, the midfielder is contracted to Bournemouth until the end of the 2027/28 season, but it appears that some of the top flight’s biggest clubs could attempt to lure him away from the south coast next year.

Italian sides AC Milan and Inter Milan are also said to have monitored the midfielder, regarding him as a potentially cost-effective transfer target.
