Ruben Amorim has confirmed Manchester United will be without six players to face Aston Villa this weekend.

Bryan Mbeumo, Amad and Noussair Mazraoui will all be heading to the Africa Cup of Nations with their respective countries, while Casemiro is suspended.

The Brazilian midfielder collected his fifth caution of the season on Monday night against Bournemouth and will therefore serve a one-match ban on Sunday.

Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire, meanwhile, have both been nursing injuries of late, and are both sidelined for the Red Devils’ trip to B6.

“I think everyone is well, we have one more training session but today the rest of the guys are ready to go,” Amorim said of his team news, before being asked if that means Maguire and De Ligt are available, but he replied “No. I’m saying that nobody recovers, nobody else is out.”

Villa are targeting their 10th successive win across all competitions this weekend, against a United side who have won their last two away matches.

“Everything can happen,” Amorim said. “They have a manager with a lot of experience, you can see when you watch Villa you can sense it’s a very mature team.

“He [Emery] doesn’t panic when they’re losing, he doesn’t feel overwhelmed when winning, he can control the emotion.

“I think they are a very strong team. If they are going to fight until the end, I don’t know, but they are capable of that.”
