Manchester United and Liverpool have made enquiries for Sheffield Wednesday's highly-rated young left-back Yisa Alao.
Crisis-club Wednesday are in the throes of trying to find new owners and Premier League clubs have sensed an opportunity with 17-year-old Alao still to commit to a professional contract.
The teenager has impressed scouts from top flight clubs with his performances at youth level which have been rewarded with a place in the first team.
He made his debut as a 16-year-old in the Carabao Cup back in August and made his league debut early this month against Derby County, replacing Harry Amass, who is on loan from Manchester United, as a late substitute in a 0–3 defeat.
Liverpool and United have discussed offers in the region of £450,000 for the Doncaster-born defender with other clubs also waiting in the wings.
Wednesday are also attempting to tie down Alao's team-mate Will Grainger to a professional deal. The 17-year-old striker is also drawing attention from top flight clubs.

The South Yorkshire side remain rooted to the bottom of the Championship table on minus nine points after a series of deductions.
Wednesday were initially deducted 12 points in October after the club filed for administration, before being hit with a further six-point deduction by the English Football League for regulation breaches.
They are currently 29 points behind Portsmouth, who sit just above the relegation zone in 21st place.
