Barcelona are increasingly likely to sign Marcus Rashford permanently, with a decision on Hansi Flick's future boosting his chances. Rashford, 28, sealed a dream move to Barca by joining them on a season-long loan in July.
The deal includes an option for Barcelona to purchase the England international for just £26million, despite having two-and-a-half years left on his contract at United. Rashford has contributed to 15 goals in his first 23 matches for Flick's side, helping them open up a four-point gap over Real Madrid in La Liga.
His goal to wrap up Wednesday's hard-fought 2-0 win away to third-tier side Guadalajara was another important contribution. As things stand, Barcelona are more likely to trigger their clause than not.
That's according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo - but there's a catch. Camp Nou chiefs want to see how Rashford fares competing with the fit-again Raphinha during the second half of this season.
Rashford has predominately played on the left of Barcelona's attack since joining. That's the position in which vice-captain Raphinha shone last season, racking up an incredible 34 goals and 22 assists goals in 57 games, and helping Barca win a domestic treble.
However, Raphinha has been used as a No.10 by Flick on occasion this season and with veteran striker Robert Lewandowski's contract expiring in June, Rashford will be looking to nail down one of the positions. What's more is that reports from Germany claim that Barcelona want to extend Flick's contract beyond 2027.
The ex-Bayern Munich boss is a big fan of Rashford, so signing a new deal would only increase the likelihood of a permanent stay for the loanee. It's not to just on the pitch where Flick admirers Rashford either.

After leaving Rashford on the bench for a recent game, Flick recalled: "I try to speak to every player when they are not selected, and the last time I checked with him he replied me, 'Boss, you don't have to tell me about your decisions. The most important thing is the team. We have to win the three points. The rest is not that important'.
"This is the perfect mentality. I am so happy to have him. When he is on the bench, he shows that we have a good and deep squad. What I can say is that he is an absolutely professional player. In the beginning, he had to adapt a little bit, but now he is at his best level."
Barca play their final game before the winter break at Villarreal on Sunday.
