Fabrizio Romano tells Man Utd fans exactly when the club could complete Antoine Semenyo deal

Fabrizio Romano has verified when Antoine Semenyo is likely to be on the move from Bournemouth amid growing expectations he’ll leave.

The race for the Cherries talisman is well and truly heating up as we approach the turn of the year and, thus, the opening of the January transfer window.

Given his stellar form, you’d imagine the interest in Semenyo would’ve been rife anyway, but the fact that his contract contains a release clause that becomes active next month has evoked the attention of a host of teams across the division.

According to Fabrizio Romano, any deal for the forward will have to be finalised by January 10. If not, the club he’s negotiating with will then have to wait until the summer to reopen talks.

Manchester United and Manchester City both called this week, pushing and in direct talks.

That’s because Bournemouth, understandably, want to give themselves ample time to find a replacement for the second half of the campaign.

Manchester United are well and truly in the mix, too, with some reports deeming them frontrunners for Semenyo.

Others have labelled Liverpool as his preferred destination, while Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are also amongst his admirers.

From Ruben Amorim’s perspective, the 25-year-old would be an ideal addition in January due to the fact that he’s without key attackers Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo.

The player will, however, want assurances that he will continue playing a starting role when the African Cup of Nations representatives return to Carrington.

The fact that United are only playing one game a week this season has made it near impossible to keep all members of the squad happy – just look at how Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee are navigating their reduced roles.
