Manchester United's transfer activity has been overshadowed by their hunt for a new manager. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick are currently the front-runners to take the helm until the season's end, at which point a more permanent decision will be made.
Solskjaer, the club's former manager, is scheduled for discussions today and will meet with director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada on Saturday to discuss the position. Darren Fletcher will continue to manage the team for Sunday's FA Cup match against Brighton.
However, the transfer window waits for no one. Despite Ruben Amorim suggesting that United wouldn't be particularly active this month prior to his dismissal, the Red Devils are frequently linked with potential signings.
Marcus Rashford's loan spell at Barcelona may still have six months remaining, but his future is already a topic of discussion. The next steps for Kobbie Mainoo also need to be determined following Amorim's departure.

Is Rashford playing agent?
Former Barcelona midfielder Gaizka Mendieta suggests that Marcus Rashford could facilitate a move for Kobbie Mainoo to Barcelona. Mainoo has found game time hard to come by this season and has been consistently linked with a move away.
Ruben Amorim's departure could alter his plans, but Mendieta wouldn't be surprised if Mainoo and Rashford have been in contact. The Spanish player believes the young United star would be a good fit for La Liga.
Speaking to BOYLE Sports, Mendieta commented: "Could Kobbie Mainoo go abroad and be a success? We've seen it happen. Players can go abroad and it motivates them to be successful, Mainoo is an exciting young player and I think La Liga would really suit him."

He added: "He might well have been in contact with Marcus Rashford about joining Barcelona. Who knows if they could play together again, as a football fan, I would be excited to see Mainoo in Spain."
Zirkzee stance.
Joshua Zirkzee continues to be open to a move to Roma this month and is keen to depart Manchester United despite Ruben Amorim's dismissal, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The publication reports that Roma are ready to take Zirkzee from United on a loan deal with a mandatory purchase clause of €38million (£33m) dependent on Champions League qualification.

Officials from the Italian club are understood to have maintained discussions with Zirkzee's representatives on Thursday and are prepared to offer the former Bologna player a contract worth €3.5m annually (£3m) running until 2030.
Loan greenlit.
Gabriele Biancheri has received permission to depart Manchester United on loan this month, according to Football Insider. The 19-year-old, who progressed through Cardiff's academy, has participated in training sessions with United's senior squad this season.
The teenager has now been informed that he is free to secure a temporary move elsewhere before the transfer deadline. Several EFL clubs are reported to have already expressed interest in acquiring the young forward.
