Man Utd let a number of players leave the club on loan in the summer with options for permanent deals in some of the agreements

Manchester United have several players out on loan this season - with some expected to never play for the Red Devils again while for others it is about aiding their development with a view to becoming a first-team regular at Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho is with Aston Villa and is out of contract at United in the summer and will not be given a renewal when his temporary spell at Villa comes to an end. Andre Onana is with Turkish club Trabzonspor while Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona in the summer.

All four of those players are the ones who are expected to move on from United at the end of the season.

Rashford has a £26m option to buy in his deal with Barca and the Spanish club have a real interest in activating the permanent deal to sign the United winger. The Spanish club’s intention is to get a deal done but their financial situation remains the only real obstacle.

“Rashford is on loan, with a 30million euros buy option, which is not mandatory. Barcelona already told Rashford that they're very happy with him in terms of performances, in terms of versatility, in terms of professionalism.

“Rashford has been fantastic in this first half of the season at Barcelona, always super serious, super professional, never creating any problem, very good presence also in the dressing room, and then in terms of numbers, doing very well.

“But also in terms of aptitude, Man United know that Barcelona are really interested in keeping Marcus Rashford. Now, the timing for that is still too early, because at the moment Barca are not going to trigger the 30 million buy option now.

“So it's not something that will be formally done now, but for sure Barcelona internally are already communicating with Marcus Rashford about the intention to keep him for the future.

“Let's see, of course, financially, because that part remains to be seen in the next months, but Barca's intention is quite clear. So let's see what happens there, and don't forget that for Man United that could be important money.”

Rashford has scored seven goals in 26 appearances for Barca this season, while also providing 11 assists. Four of his goals and three of his assists have come in just six Champions League appearances.
