Wayne Rooney‘s eldest son, 16, has been banned from wearing his own football boots at Manchester United’s youth club.

Kai Rooney has been progressing through the ranks at Carrington. The youngster already has a deal with Puma, signed when he was aged just 12.

During his time in the United academy, however, the budding forward has not been able to wear his Puma boots. “All the academy have to wear the same boots. They do it because there’s people from areas where they can’t afford certain boots so I think it’s really good. But he’s played for the U18s a few times and he can then wear his Puma boots. He’s doing well to be fair to him.”
