As discussions over the club's next interim boss continue, Manchester United also have a transfer window to negotiate. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is holding talks with club bosses this weekend with a view to taking over for the rest of the season following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.
Another Old Trafford favourite, former Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick, is also in the frame as the club holds off on appointing a new permanent boss until the summer, when more top-tier coaches will be available.
Amorim's departure has altered the landscape for numerous United players, with some now more likely to stay while others could potentially be pushed closer to the exit door. Here's a round-up of the latest United transfer news…
Zirkzee move blocked
Joshua Zirkzee is among the players who could get a second chance at Old Trafford following the departure of Amorim. The £36m Dutch striker has been wanted by Roma on loan with a view to a permanent transfer.
With players away at the Africa Cup of Nations, United had been waiting before making a final decision. Zirkzee was interested in going, but now it seems the transfer is off, at least for now.
Italian title Gazzetta dello Sport reports United have pulled the plug in the wake of Amorim's exit, leaving Roma, who had been expecting to get their man, frustrated.
The report adds that the deal could be resurrected if the new interim boss decides he doesn't want Zirkzee. However, working with a former master striker like Solskjaer could breathe new life into his Red Devils career.

Juve in for Mazraoui
Juventus are reportedly looking to take advantage of the managerial void at Old Trafford by moving for Noussair Mazraoui. The Moroccan is on Juve's short-list, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Old Lady are targeting a winger and a full-back this month. Mazraoui is still on duty at the Africa Cup of Nations after helping Morocco to a 2-0 quarter-final victory over Bryan Mbeumo's Cameroon.

Morocco's semi-final takes place on Wednesday, with the final and third-place play-off next weekend. That means Mazraoui won't return to the UK until the final third of January.
Juve believe the versatile 28-year-old would aid their title bid and feel the current uncertainty at Old Trafford could help their case, the report adds.
