Man United ace Toby Collyer is attracting a lot of interest ahead of a potential second loan move this season

The midfielder joined Championship side West Brom on a season-long loan back in August but an unfortunate run-in with injuries cut his stint at The Hawthorns short. United opted to recall the 22-year-old early, confirming his return to Manchester in a statement on New Year’s Day.

“A highly rated talent with a tremendous work ethic, Toby returns to United to focus on his recovery and perhaps bolster Ruben Amorim’s options in midfield,” the club wrote at the time.

Amorim has since left the club and United are working on signing a caretaker manager to see the season out. Collyer could still be an option to consider for the new arrival, with MEN Sport reporting he is due to be fit before the end of the month and could remain at Old Trafford.

Hull City manager confirms he wants to sign Toby Collyer from Man United

Hull City are keen on signing Collyer this window and manager Sergej Jakirovic has confirmed the interest in the midfielder.

The Tigers were also in the running to sign the 22-year-old over the summer but he opted to join West Brom instead. That hasn’t swayed Jakirovic, though, who remains eager to add Collyer to his roster as they push for Premier League promotion.

Hull are currently seventh in the Championship standings, only outside of the play-off spots on goal difference. They have won four of their last six Championship games, including a 2-0 victory over Wrexham, who knocked Nottingham Forest out of the FA Cup on Friday.

As well as joining a tense battle to fight for promotion, Collyer would also likely be given regular playing time, as Jakirovic appears to be a huge admirer of his.

“He's an interesting player, I would like to take him if it's possible,” the Bosnian manager told BBC Humberside (via Sky Sports).

“I feel sorry because he didn't choose us in summer, because he didn't recognise the situation in our club.

“Maybe, not just him, but all other players, now they see that we have a good team who is capable of playing good every week, every game. So now maybe they change their minds, but this is normal.

“Everyone can make mistakes, so this is normal. But if it's now an option and an opportunity to take him, I would like to take him.”

Man United delay decision on Toby Collyer

Despite Hull’s interest in Collyer, United aren’t willing to sign off a deal until they bring in their caretaker manager. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has reported that approval have been ‘delayed’ by the Red Devils.

“Hull City have asked Man United for Toby Collyer’s loan until the end of the current season. Approval to be delayed until Man United decide on caretaker manager,” Romano wrote on social media.

The Tigers will need to bide their time and wait until the United board are willing to enter negotiations before they can add Collyer to their promotion-pushing squad.
