We asked AI to predict Everton’s January transfer business and were given some interesting results
Everton are looking up under David Moyes and will be optimistic heading into 2026 that the Toffees can continue to stabilise under the Scotsman, with a surprise push for Europe still not out of the question.
Results have remained inconsistent, proving that there is still work to be done if the Toffees are to become a serious force in the Premier League once again. But the early signs at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium have certainly been positive and further investment in the winter window would only further this sentiment.
We asked X’s Grok AI to predict Everton’s January transfer window, with some rather interesting results.
Players Everton could sign in January transfer window predicted
Grok predicted that Everton will have an exceptionally busy January, with some ambitious transfer arrivals capable of leading a charge up the division for Moyes’ side.
The Toffees have long struggled in their forward line and are one of the lower scorers in the division, so the arrival of Joshua Zirkzee on loan from Manchester United has been touted with the Dutchman arriving to offer support to Thierno Barry and Beto up front.
It could, in fact, be an Old Trafford double swoop, as AI also predicts Everton to secure the stunning signing of Kobbie Mainoo from the Red Devils. The 20-year-old has been linked with an exit for some time after seeing his progression curtailed at United and could arrive at Hill Dickinson Stadium on a ‘low-cost loan’ with an option to buy for £25 million.
Everton have also been linked with Spanish full-back Juanlu Sanchez, who could arrive in a permanent deal worth around £15m-£20m according to Grok. On the opposite flank, an ambitious £30m swoop could be made for Fulham’s US international Antonee Robinson, who has stood out over recent seasons and would be a top-quality acquisition at left-back if he returned to the club where he begun his career.
Finally, the Toffees are touted to sign 24-year-old Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge for £20m, bringing further defensive solidity to Moyes’ midfield.
Players Everton could sell in January transfer window predicted
Everton may also see departures in the January transfer window, though the focus appears to be on incomings according to Grok. The AI stated that 36-year-old Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye could depart Merseyside, possibly to return to Ligue 1 on either a low fee or a pre-contract agreement for the summer.
Nathan Patterson has also been touted for an exit, which could become increasingly apparent if Juanlu were to arrive at right-back. Sevilla have been linked with a loan deal for Patterson in the past, and could sign him as a direct replacement for Juanlu.
In addition, Michael Keane has been predicted by AI to depart Everton, potentially to the Championship, while Beto could also depart after an unconvincing spell on Merseyside. Potential exits for Vitaliy Mykolenko, James Garner and Dwight McNeil are also said to be possible but less likely.
