Shaw has struggled with injuries throughout his time in Manchester. The defender missed 26 games due to injury last season, but has been available for almost every match this term.
The England international's only previous squad absence this season was against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round in August. Shaw was rested for that game at Blundell Park.
Darren Fletcher has picked Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro and Patrick Dorgu to start as a back four against Brighton. Ayden Heaven has moved to the bench after starting against Burnley on Wednesday.
