Marcus Rashford’s time as an official Manchester United player looks to be coming to an end, but the club could end up missing out on millions from his potential exit. Rashford is spending the season on loan at Barcelona, having expressed a desire to leave Old Trafford last summer.

Barcelona are thought to have an option to make the move for Rashford permanent at the end of the season, with a set fee believed to be around £26million.

A report earlier this week claimed that Rashford and his representatives have been informed by Barcelona of their desire to make the move for the England international permanent this summer.

Rashford has scored seven goals and provided 11 assists during his time with the La Liga giants, and the speculation about the forward’s future ramped up this week following Ruben Amorim’s departure from Old Trafford.

Prior to the January transfer window opening, a report emerged claiming that Paris Saint-Germain had an interest in signing Rashford once his loan spell at Barcelona came to an end.

Reports in Spain in November said that PSG even ensured they had the funds available to sign Rashford should the opportunity come up. The report claimed that the Ligue 1 giants had given themselves £43million to be able to agree a deal with United for Rashford this summer.

As a result, if Rashford does go on to sign for Barcelona on a permanent basis, it would see United potentially miss out on an additional £17million they would have got from PSG. Rashford stated in an interview with Sport last month that it was his wish to join Barcelona on a permanent basis.

"Of course what I want is to stay at Barca," Rashford said.

"It's an end goal, but it's not the reason why I'm training hard and giving it my best. The purpose is to win. Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles."
