Man Utd drew 2-2 with Burnley in the Premier League clash at Turf Moor on Wednesday evening, which was Darren Fletcher’s first match in charge of the club.

However, the Red Devils’ week took an ugly turn on Sunday evening, with Brighton knocking United out of the FA Cup in a stunning 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

United’s result against Brighton was Fletcher’s first defeat as Red Devils interim manager amid the club’s pursuit of a caretaker head coach until the end of the season.

United were sixth in the Premier League table at the time of Amorim’s exit from Old Trafford and the knock-on effect has been felt at the Premier League club.

Diogo Dalot insisted that all of the United first-team players have found it “difficult” in the post-Amorim era and are trying to “adapt” under Darren Fletcher’s demands.

“Really difficult [the managerial change],” he told TNT Sports, as per BBC Sport.

“It’s always a period that you have to find ways to solve problems really quickly. We have to adapt and go again.”

Dalot started and completed the full 90 minutes of United’s third-round FA Cup defeat to Brighton on Sunday, with the Red Devils finishing the match with 10 men.

Brighton took control of the FA Cup clash with a 2-0 lead before Benjamin Sesko pulled one back for the Red Devils with a late headed effort in the second half.

However, Shea Lacey was sent off for a second bookable offence in the dying stages of the FA Cup tie and Man Utd were unable to find the all-important equaliser.

Speaking after United’s FA Cup exit against Brighton, Dalot said: “We created enough to win the game, to be honest.

“Then the red card gave us a disadvantage because we were on top of Brighton in the last moments.

“Overall, very disappointed because we wanted to go through. All the lads kept trying to find spaces; like I said, really disappointed because I think we deserved to win.”

United will now face a major test next Saturday afternoon, with the Red Devils hosting Manchester City for the Premier League’s latest Manchester derby clash.
