Manchester United face an intriguing month as the January transfer window remains open for business. Ruben Amorim's side are in the hunt for a return to European football and could turn to new signings to help the team get across the line.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim refused to be drawn on his comments about the ongoing transfer window. The Portuguese coach had previously hinted that his view did not align with the club hierarchy regarding recruitment.

When asked to clarify why he had been unsure about United’s approach to recruitment, Amorim refused to give a detailed explanation. "I don't want to talk about that. I just focus on the Leeds game,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

Amorim stated that he did not regret his earlier transfer comments and gave another cryptic response. "I don't want to talk about that,” he continued. There was a brief pause before Amorim added: "But you are very smart, so..."

While Amass could remain with the relegation-stricken Owls, where he has made 20 appearances, United may choose to send him elsewhere. The Sun reports that Stoke City, managed by Mark Robins, are leading a 12-club battle for his signature.

When asked to explain his comments about Amass and other United academy prospects, Amorim said: "I didn't say anything wrong. I just spoke about how the luck of playing for Manchester United.
