Manchester United has launched an internal investigation after Bruno Fernandes’ social media account was hacked.
The Red Devils were dumped out of the FA Cup in humiliating fashion at the weekend, losing 2-1 to Brighton as former Man United striker Danny Welbeck fired home the nail in the coffin.
It came in the same week that manager Ruben Amorim was sacked, with ex-midfielder Darren Fletcher being appointed as interim manager. He has now overseen two games and Ineos, the company that owns Man United, is keen to hire a caretaker sooner rather than later.

Fernandes, 31, does not use his social media regularly - most recently posting in October last year to celebrate his 300th appearance for the club. But once hackers got hold of his account, the posting went into overdrive, with a string of post appearing on the feeds of his 4.5m followers.
Hackers initially posted about a crypto currency, before claiming that “Man United are in the dumps” - and then tagging the likes of adult film star Bonnie Blue, YouTuber KSI and darts sensation Luke Littler in some posts.
Still under the guise of being Fernandes, the hackers then said: “Let’s get rid of Ineos.”
Finally, a screenshot of Man United’s 7-0 defeat to Liverpool in 2023 was posted. All of the posts have since been deleted.
A spokesperson for Man United said: “Bruno Fernandes’s X account has been hacked. Supporters should not engage with any of the posts or direct messages.”
