Manchester United’s season went from bad to worse on Sunday as they were beaten 3-1 by Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup third round.
Bajan Gruda had put the visitors in front early on at Old Trafford, before former Red Devils Danny Welbeck doubled the Seagulls’ advantage shortly after the hour mark.
Benjamin Sesko then halved the deficit in the closing stages, but Darren Fletcher’s side were unable to find an equaliser and the Red Devils therefore exit the competition.
United have now been knocked out of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in their first match in each competition this term, meaning they will only play 40 matches across all competitions this season.
Now, with United still on the hunt for a caretaker manager, it appears that United are also eyeing a move to sign a Bosnian defender.
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United have been scouting Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemovic, who has been hugely impressive of late.

The report claims that United – as well as Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United – are all keeping tabs on the defender, who joined Sassuolo from fellow Serie A side Juventus last summer, having spent the previous season on loan.
In total, the centre-back has now made 48 appearances for Sassuolo across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing the same number of assists.
Muharemovic is said to have attracted significant interest from clubs across Europe, with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig preparing a bid of around £20 million for the player.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international is under contract at Sassuolo until the end of the 2030/31 campaign, however, with the defender having signed a lengthy deal when he joined the club permanently last summer.
