Manchester United have picked their interim manager for the rest of the season after failing to register a win in their first two matches under Darren Fletcher.
It has been widely reported that United have held meetings with both Solskjaer and Michael Carrick to take over the helm following Ruben Amorim’s sacking. Now, it seems the club’s hierarchy have made their final decision.
According to CentreDevils, Carrick is set to be United’s caretaker manager for the remainder of the season, beating Solskjaer to the race.
The former midfielder was the Norwegian’s assistant at United and was on the touchline for three games from late November to early December 2021 following Solskjaer’s sacking.
The report states: “There will be further talks today to finalise details with Carrick, who has already met with Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox today.”
It is thought that Wilcox originally opted for Solskjaer.
United are keen to announce the decision imminently to allow Carrick to oversee the first team training on Wednesday ahead of the side’s clash against Manchester City.
