Wolves player ‘practically secured’ – Agreement with entourage, confidence deal will done

On November 25th, we covered claims from Brazil which stated Manchester United as an option for Wolves midfielder João Gomes. The Red Devils were said to have identified the Brazil international as a target for the winter market.

Manchester United haven’t made concrete advances to take him away from Molineux this month. Indeed, the claims about a transfer to the Red Devils burned brightly for a couple of days before completely disappearing.

It may well have been an attempt to hype the player and build interest in the coming months, ahead of a likely exit in the summer.

Meanwhile, Napoli – who appear to watch Manchester United business obsessively – have entered the race and identified the Wolves player as their main target for next season.

Two days ago, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported the Serie A side’s desire to sign the midfielder in the summer. He explained Rob Edwards’ side would need €40m to sanction a move.

Gianluca Di Marzio has a fresh report on Napoli making progress to bring the 24-year-old to the club. Having identified Gomes as an ideal midfielder for Antonio Conte, the Naples club have started to work on this operation.

The journalist claims the Serie A side have reached an agreement with the Wolves man. Napoli have ‘practically secured’ Gomes’ signing by agreeing financial terms with his entourage.

Transfer vultures circle Wolves

Napoli need an agreement with Wolves, and only this is now missing. That’s obviously a rather important part of the process, and negotiations will continue on this front.

Wolves are bottom of the table, trailing 17th placed Nottingham Forest by 14 points. Their potential relegation will see multiple players look to leave the club. However, transfers likely won’t be as cheap as some of the vultures who are circling expect.

The South American has played 24 matches in all competitions for Wolves this season. Regardless of his camp agreeing anything with Napoli, Wolves will have the final say.
