Manchester United are racing against the clock with less than three weeks to wrap up their transfer dealings before the window slams shut.

The Red Devils have until February 2 to bolster their squad with fresh faces for the season's second half. In the wake of Ruben Amorim's departure last week, United and director of football Jason Wilcox have been on the hunt for a new gaffer to take the reins from the 40-year-old for the rest of the season. Darren Fletcher stepped in as caretaker boss for the clashes against Burnley and Brighton, but it seems Michael Carrick is poised to take the job until season's end.

On the transfer front, United have already been linked with a raft of potential recruits, a trend likely to continue over the coming weeks whether or not it is Carrick at the helm. The club has been hotly tipped to sign a midfielder since last summer, and it's yet to be seen whether Amorim's exit will alter United's transfer strategy this month and beyond. Here's all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Inter Milan ace 'in demand'

United are reportedly keen on snapping up Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck, reports the Mirror.

According to Inter Live, United are among several Premier League clubs expressing interest in Bisseck this month, with the 25-year-old centre-back looking to take the next step in his career.

However, it's reportedly deemed "impossible" for United, or any other club, to sign Bisseck from Inter before the February 2 deadline, with Tottenham, Crystal Palace, and West Ham also linked to the player.

However, whether that position could be tested by a bid for the highly-rated Germany international remains to be seen.

United are said to have a contingency plan in place in case Bruno Fernandes decides to leave the club.

According to Calciomercato, Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ittihad, are all showing interest in Fernandes, who nearly left Old Trafford in the summer, only to be convinced otherwise by his since departed countryman Amorim.

Consequently, the report claims United have identified Juventus's Kenan Yildiz as their primary target if 31-year-old Fernandes were to depart Old Trafford.

This season, Yildiz has mainly featured on the left wing for Juventus but has also demonstrated his versatility by playing in the false nine role and on the right wing when needed for the Serie A giants.

The 20-year-old, who was born in Germany but plays for the Turkey national team, is considered one of the best young players in the world.
