Manchester United have reached an agreement to hire Michael Carrick, reports claim.
An announcement over Michael Carrick is imminent with Manchester United set to formally confirm his hire.
Carrick will take the manager role until the end of the 2025/26 season, and his first game is set to be the Manchester derby this coming weekend.
United also considered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the role, and while this idea received a positive response from fans, the decision to appoint Michael Carrick is even more popular.

Manchester United fans have a strong reputation for backing the manager, and there is real optimism about the Michael Carrick era.
Our poll results show 74 per cent of fans say Michael Carrick is the right choice ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

One fan wrote: “Carrick is a better fit, more experience in the English game, but will need a defensive coach for help.”
“Trust in Michael,” wrote another.
“INEOS need to get players in for him now. We need to get a top 4 finish,” added another supporter, reinforcing the stakes of the current situation.
Another comment on transfer referenced United’s links to Ruben Neves, adding: “We need Neves in this week. 20m is a bargain and Wilcox and Berada needs to get this deal done ASAP.”
A fifth added: “Let Carrick lead the team throughout the build process coz he’s a nice guy and a better coach with his formation.”
And another comment read: “Out of all the options, at least Carrick will know some of the squad and steady things for the rest of the season.”

Some Solskjaer regrets
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made an incredible early impact during his spell as interim coach in late 2018 and early 2019.
One fan wistfully wrote: “Ole Gunnar Solskjær is better.”
Another wrote: “United had Martial who had injury problems then what could he do with Sesko, Mbeumo, Amad, Fernandes and Cunha. We missed gold.”
A further comment added that the squad is just not good enough, adding: “Put who you want in until a good 6 players leave I’m really not interested.”
