The Red Devils have endured a turbulent period since last week after Man Utd axed former Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim from the Premier League club.

The Premier League side are without a permanent United manager, with Darren Fletcher appointed interim manager after Ruben Amorim’s Old Trafford exit.

Darren Fletcher, who is the Manchester United Under-18s head coach, has overseen the Red Devils’ 2-2 league draw against Burnley and 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Brighton.

The 42-year-old former Man Utd shot-stopper is convinced that Michael Carrick’s ā€œauraā€ could convince the Red Devils players to do the same for him at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick’s timeline of events at Man Utd upon his scheduled return to Old Trafford as caretaker manager

According to The Guardian on Monday, United legend Carrick is expected to be announced as caretaker manager of the Red Devils at some point on Tuesday.

The 44-year-old former Middlesbrough manager would lead his first United first-team training session as caretaker boss on Wednesday at the Carrington complex.

Carrick, who was sacked by Middlesbrough, would then take charge of his first Man Utd match on Saturday for the massive Manchester derby clash at Old Trafford.

Darren Fletcher could link up with former Red Devils teammate Carrick at the club, with the interim coach expected to be offered a place in the United coaching staff.
