Ethan Wheatley is set to join Bradford City on loan for the rest of the season, according to multiple reports.
The 19-year-old forward shone for Cobblers in the first half of the campaign but had his time at Sixfields cut short by parent club Manchester United, who felt he would benefit from a move elsewhere, and it appears Bradford will be the teenager’s destination. He was recalled from his spell at Northampton on Monday.
According to several sources, including Pete O’Rouke, Wheatley and Manchester United have agreed a deal with the Bantams, although he’s unlikely to feature straightaway due to an injury picked up whilst playing for Cobblers at Huddersfield last month.
Graham Alexander’s side are in the mix for back-to-back promotions, currently third in League One, two points off the automatic promotion places. They have already signed Newcastle United pair Harrison Ashby and Joe White on loan until the end of the season this month.
If the move goes through, Cobblers will be due a reunion with Wheatley when they head to Valley Parade on Good Friday (April 3rd).
