Nottingham Forest trying to dump player – Make contact to return to sender

Nottingham Forest have no intention of buying Douglas Luiz and are now trying to send him back to Juventus this month.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb. They report that talks have been underway between the various parties over the Brazilian’s disastrous loan at Nottingham Forest this season.

He joined them in the summer, with Forest beating Premier League competition to his signature. The move was seen as something of a coup at the time but has quickly become a disaster.

Luiz is now struggling to get into the side under Sean Dyche and recent reports have indicated Nottingham Forest want rid. They certainly have no intention of allowing his loan to become a permanent move.

In fact, a recent report stated that they were ‘light years’ away from doing so. Their true intentions with the midfielder were being questioned, with Juventus even thinking of cancelling the loan themselves.

TMW now follow that up. They report there has been contact between the various parties involved, Lina Souloukou in particular for Nottingham Forest, about the deal. They want to solve a ‘potentially serious situation’.

Nottingham Forest contact over player return

Juventus are concerned that Douglas Luiz might not play for the entirety of the second half of the season. If that were to happen, it would further devalue him.

They’re already accepting of the fact the €25m deal they agreed with Nottingham Forest won’t be happening. But they don’t want to see the Brazilian further depreciated when it comes to moving him elsewhere either.

The obvious answer is to bring him back for now and give him to Luciano Spaletti, who needs a midfielder. Whether the Italian coach would accept him, however, is up for debate. They could also try and sell again this month.

The situation is not a simple one, but a solution has to be found, with Nottingham Forest clearly not interested in keeping him long-term.

Should Juventus not want him back, a way out could be scrapping the obligation clause. That would at least mean Forest aren’t reluctant to use him due to that.
