West Ham miss out on Nuno replacement as Manchester United pounce

‘Living on borrowed time’ is how several pundits have described Nuno Espirito Santo’s position at London Stadium right now.

Winless in nine Premier League games and with a solitary FA Cup win in months, the Hammers are mired in 18th position in the Premier League. Lose at Tottenham on Saturday and surely the West Ham board will have to act.

The board dragging their feet whilst woeful results have piled up over the Christmas and New year period have meant that West Ham have lost out again – on appointing a former Hammers player who’d been linked with the managers’ job.

Michael Carrick has just this afternoon been appointed interim Manager at Manchester United. So much for those who thought Carrick didn’t have the experience for Premier League management. He’s taken over from Ruben Amorim and leaves West Ham even shorter on possible replacements. The Independent even go so far as to label Carrick ‘the Anti Amorim”, being the quiet, unassuming opposite of the Red Devils’ former coach.
