GiveMeSport’s Ben Jacobs has now reported that Steve Holland’s arrival in Carrick’s United coaching staff was not a decision that was made by Ineos.
According to the publication’s newsletter, former England assistant manager Steve Holland is a “name appreciated” by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s regime.
However, the call to bring the 55-year-old former Three Lions coach, who worked under ex-England boss Sir Gareth Southgate, to Old Trafford was “made” by Carrick.

The United legend was criticised for his reign when it came to his staff, with one Reddit user suggesting his “backroom staff weren’t fantastic” during their time.
However, Carrick was also accused of being a “little too loyal” to his former Middlesbrough coaching team, but he could now be making amends for that.
Holland could be the key for Carrick to learn from his mistakes and tap into the former England assistant manager’s expertise to fortify the Red Devils’ structure.
