Barcelona have reportedly held a fresh round of talks with Manchester United for Marcus Rashford. The Catalan side want to sign him, but are unwilling to activate the €30 million option they have at the end of the season.
According to a report by Ben Jacobs, Barcelona want to reduce the asking price and hope Manchester United agrees. They want to have the Englishman in the squad next season and are open to signing him on another loan, with an obligation to buy in 2027, subject to conditions.
The report claims that the meeting between the two sides took place earlier this month, with the Spanish Super Cup winners pushing for talks. They want to complete negotiations on new terms before the season ends to prepare for the summer window.
Rashford is keen to join the Catalan side on a permanent transfer and is not interested in talks with any other club. Barcelona are still in a financial mess and are looking to save as much as they can.
Manchester United is also looking to part ways with the academy product and do not see him returning to the club despite the sacking of Ruben Amorim. The Englishman has a contract until 2028 at Old Trafford, and the Red Devils are looking to sell this summer.
Meanwhile, the report adds that Barcelona are willing to offer a deal until 2029 to Rashford if they manage to agree a deal with Manchester United.
Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford makes feelings clear about Barcelona
Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford spoke to the media after the Spanish Super Cup win in Saudi Arabia, confirming that he wants to join Barcelona permanently. He was delighted to win his first silverware at the club and said (via M.E.N):
"I am very happy today. It's the first trophy [with Barça] and it's always the best feeling to win the first one. I hope now we can win some more. I hope it's not the last one. It was a top performance. This is what we're capable of doing. There are still areas to improve, but we can enjoy this moment today. It's really good [being at the club]. When we win, it makes it so much easier."
"Throughout the season, even in moments when we have not played so well, we stick together and act as a team. For me, it's perfect and I am really enjoying my time here. Of course what I want is to stay at Barça. It's an end goal, but it's not the reason why I'm training hard and giving it my best. The purpose is to win. Barça is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles."
Rashford has been out on loan from Manchester United since January 2025. He joined Aston Villa for the second half of last season, before moving to Barcelona in the summer.
