Michael Carrick's backroom staff at Manchester United has been confirmed following his appointment as head coach for the rest of the season. United announced on Tuesday that Carrick would oversee the team for the remainder of the season after Ruben Amorim's dismissal after just 14 months in charge.

Darren Fletcher took caretaker charge of the team against Burnley and Brighton. Fletcher was offered a role within Carrick's backroom staff but declined in favour of returning to manage the Under-18s.

Jonny Evans returned to United to coach with Fletcher after stepping down from his role of head of loans and pathways last month. The former defender will continue to work as a first-team coach. Craig Mawson has been retained in his position as first-team goalkeeper coach.

Travis Binnion was part of Fletcher's staff for his two games as caretaker and will continue to help Carrick as a first-team coach. Tom Curtis has stepped into Binnion's position as Under-21 lead

Steve Holland has been appointed as Carrick's assistant manager. Holland worked as England assistant manager throughout Gareth Southgate's tenure, helping the Three Lions to finish third at the 2018 World Cup and to finish as runners-up in successive European Championships.

Before working with England, Holland spent several years at Chelsea, helping different managers to win silverware. Holland was most recently in charge of Japanese club Yokohama F. Marinos.

Jonathan Woodgate has also been appointed as first-team coach. Woodgate was an assistant coach at Middlesbrough when they were relegated from the Premier League in 2017. He returned to Boro in the summer of 2019 to become their manager, but he was sacked near the end of his first season.

In February 2021, Woodgate joined Bournemouth. He oversaw the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign as interim, guiding the Cherries into the Championship play-offs before Scott Parker was hired as manager.

Woodgate returned to Middlesbrough in 2022 to work as a first-team coach following Carrick's appointment as manager. He departed alongside Carrick when he was sacked by Boro in June.

Carrick and Woodgate steered Middlesbrough to the play-offs in 2022/23, but they left after eighth and tenth-place finishes. Woodgate is best known for his playing career, in which he represented the likes of Real Madrid, Tottenham, Newcastle and Leeds as a central defender.
