Most expensive manager ever wants to join Man Utd with 2026 move possible, Vivell is pushing -…

Manchester United are doing their due diligence for a permanent appointment in the summer, after Michael Carrick was brought in on an interim basis, and Julian Nagelsmann is one manager who would be keen on moving to Old Trafford.

It was confirmed on Tuesday evening that Carrick had been placed in charge of the Red Devils for the second half of the season, replacing Ruben Amorim, who was sacked earlier this month. GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed that Carrick was in the running with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the temporary role, but the Manchester club went with the former.

As it stands, Carrick has only been brought in on an interim basis, meaning United need to find a permanent manager ahead of the 2026/2027 campaign. Carrick might do enough to impress the Old Trafford hierarchy and secure himself the job in the long term, but that doesn't appear to be the plan as it stands.

Man Utd Doing Due Diligence on Permanent Appointment

According to a report from Football Insider, Manchester United are doing their due diligence on a permanent appointment already, despite only bringing in Carrick as interim manager this week. Christopher Vivell is pushing for the Red Devils to bring in Nagelsmann, and the German would be keen on making the move to Old Trafford.

It's claimed that Nagelsmann will be 'firmly in the frame' for the permanent role in the summer, with Vivell keen to reunite with him after they worked together at RB Leipzig. Described as a 'genius' by journalist Julian Laurens, Nagelsmann is currently the most expensive manager in football, with Bayern Munich paying a record fee of £21.7m to prise him away from Leipzig back in 2021.

Nagelsmann an Exciting Long-Term Appointment

At the age of 38, Nagelsmann is still one of the youngest managers out there, but he's already amassed plenty of experience in his career, showing the level of coach he is. Nagelsmann is currently the manager of the German national team, while he's also been in charge of Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, and Hoffenheim.

United have failed with any potential long-term projects in recent years, but Nagelsmann could be the ideal manager to change that. His connection with Vivell could give United an advantage in terms of convincing him to join, but it could depend on how well Germany do at the World Cup later this year.
