New Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick arrived at the club’s training ground on Wednesday morning ahead of his first full day in the job.
While there is no certainty over who the next permanent manager is going to be, the possibility of making big-money signings is unlikely.
But the rumour mill is buzzing with speculation about potential incomings and outgoings, so we have rounded up the latest transfer gossip involving United.
Man United 'face battle' to land Alex Scott
Manchester United are stepping up their midfield interest ahead of the summer, with Alex Scott among the names linked with a potential move to Old Trafford.
That's according to TEAMtalk, who are reporting that Bournemouth are prepared to fight to keep hold of the 22-year-old, with United just one of several teams fighting for his signature.
Rivals Man City, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Tottenham have all been monitoring him in recent weeks, with just over two years remaining on his deal with the Cherries.
Scott has made 21 Premier League appearances this season, having grown into a regular starter since his move from Bristol City in 2023.
Manchester Evening News says: Alex Scott is certainly an exciting talent and one that should certainly be on Man United's radar if they are serious about bolstering their midfield ranks this summer.
The main concern will be the price tag. While he is likely to command a lower fee than Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, or Elliot Anderson, it will be tough to coax him out of Bournemouth with two years on his deal and with plenty of potential at just 22 years old.
If United miss out on their main targets, then perhaps looking for a young, cheaper option in Europe may be a better route, but the interest certainly makes sense.
Man United eye Ecuadorian wonderkid
Manchester United have entered the race to sign Ecuadorian youngster Ederson Castillo, according to BolaVip.
The defensive midfielder has emerged as a target for United for when he turns 18 in 2027, having shown plenty of potential at just 17.
Real Madrid are also claimed to be eyeing a deal, though rivals Barcelona have already offered him a trial and the potential to sign the wonderkid.
A fee in the millions could be commanded for his signature, though it remains to be seen who could win the race in the months ahead.
Manchester Evening News says: If Man United are to push towards the top once again, then they need to be able to bring through young talent.
While they could go and sign established youngsters for hundreds of millions of pounds, going to other markets to land them before they hit the senior stage could save plenty of money.
Ederson Castillo has very few minutes in senior football under his belt, so it's unclear just how much of a success he could be for the future.
However, it's relatively low risk and high reward in terms of the fee and the sort of move United should be looking to make.
