Vinicius Jr Called Out For First Post Since Xabi Alonso Exit From Real Madrid

Vinicius Junior has been called out after posting to social media for the first time following Xabi Alonso's departure as Real Madrid manager.

Alonso left Real by mutual agreement on Monday after less than eight games in charge.

Alvaro Arbeloa, who had been coaching the Castilla side, was immediately promoted to first-team manager.

The former Liverpool defender's first game in charge was a shock 3-2 Copa del Rey defeat to second-tier side Albacete on Wednesday evening.

Vinicius played the full 90 minutes against Albacete, but was not directly involved in either of Real's goals.

The Brazilian winger has been criticised by fans for his performance levels during the 2025/26 season, having scored just once since October, with that criticism significantly ramping up following Alonso's departure.

A number of Real players, including Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo, Thibaut Courtois, Jude Bellingham and Antonio Rudiger, took to Instagram following Alonso's departure to pay tribute to the Spaniard, who played for Los Blancos during his playing career.

But Vinicius notably didn't do so.

The 25-year-old had a reportedly frosty relationship with Alonso, with Vinicius being captured by DAZN cameras shouting: "Always me! I'm leaving the team, it's better if I leave, I'm leaving," after he was substituted during a game against Barcelona in October.

The Athletic report that he subsequently apologised for his outburst at the club's training ground, but 'deliberate[ly]' left Alonso's name out of his social media apology on the same subject.

And his first post since his former manager's exit went viral.

Ahead of the Albacete match, he posted a photo of himself walking on to the pitch on his Instagram story.

He captioned the post: "Fe [translated in English as faith]! Hala Madrid!"

The post - which mirrors what Vinicius regularly posts before matches - has since been deleted.

In response, one fan wrote: "Faith is running low... stop whining."

Another said: "I'm done trying to defend this spoiled brat."

A third asked: "Did Vini say anything about Xabi publicly, like thanking him? If not, f**k this guy."

A fourth simply wrote: "Spoiled brat."
