Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky Van de Ven is a 'Real Madrid player', and could leave in 2026, according to PA journalist George Sessions, speaking on GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness podcast.
Van de Ven has undoubtedly been one of Tottenham's most reliable players over the last few years, and it would be no surprise to see him attract interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe. The Dutch centre-back has proven himself to be a threat in the opposition box as well as his own, and his ability on the ball, mixed with his defensive solidity, makes him one of the best in his position.
There's no doubt, Tottenham will be desperate to keep hold of Van de Ven, but they'll likely need to match his ambitions. The rapid defender will want to be competing in the Champions League regularly, but they sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Speaking on GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness podcast, PA journalist Sessions has claimed that there will be many clubs circling the defender, especially if Spurs fail to qualify for Europe. Sessions has labelled Van de Ven a 'Real Madrid player', while confirming that Tottenham don't want to sell him.
“Micky van de Ven, absolutely. If Tottenham finish 11th and he has a brilliant World Cup, every man and his dog will be after him. He’s a Real Madrid player, absolutely. But he will obviously cost a lot of money, and I don’t think Tottenham will want to sell him.
But if they’re not in the Champions League next season, they’re not in any type of Europe, and maybe there’s a kind of struggle to see what the real short‑term ambitions are… then yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me if there are plenty of clubs circling him, and he’s got a decision to weigh up.”
Van de Ven has been a favourite under multiple Tottenham managers now, with former boss Ange Postecoglou labelling him as 'special'. Keeping him at the club will undoubtedly be a priority for Spurs, but if a club like Real Madrid arrives at the club, the Dutch defender might be tempted.
Real Madrid Would be Tough to Turn Down

Van de Ven does appear to be enjoying life at Spurs at the moment, but it's always difficult to turn down a club like Madrid. Although Tottenham are competing in the Champions League this season, they only qualified through winning the Europa League, finishing 17th in the Premier League last season.
As it stands, Tottenham have little chance of qualifying for the Champions League through their league position, and Van de Ven is likely a player who wants to be competing at the highest level. Real Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and Spurs will be hoping they don't make a move for their defender.
